End of the Week

I survived the week of VBS with three year olds. By Friday we were down to a managable dozen. My daughter is a super teacher and all the children just love her.

Our bible verse was Jesus is the Light and those creative snack ladies made a cupcake inside an ice cream cone to look like a flashlight. It took me over five minutes to convince the class to take a bite. They thought the frosting was cheese.

Yesterday was a rainbow gummy over blue jello for a verse that I have forgotten. We were afraid to try this too. Luckily there was 1/2 a banana too.

Eating bananas and the marshmellows on top.

Our music teacher

My daughter, the child pied piper.  She is very low key and everyone talked about how much calmer the preschoolers were this year.

We practiced for the show tonight. We also practiced at the end of the day with the other classes. By then 3 classmates were in the back of the church with me, refusing to walk up the aisle. 2 more started crying during the song. We are not performers.  I did not attend the presentation and carnival tonight. Vacation Bible School wore me out!

Tomorrow I am going to a Taylor Swift concert! It is not really Taylor Swift but we are just as excited as if it was! It is at a minor league baseball complex and Gramma has sprung for seats on the raised deck with a table with an umbrella and wait staff who will bring us lemonades. It is by the rail and the younger ladies can still dance. My daughter, youngest granddaughter and her friend are going.  I even have a Taylor Swift outfit. It's a t-shirt that says "I am in my Gramma Era".

  2. I like how the name tags are on the back. I'm still trying to figure out the flashlight too; like it has a butterscotch coating on it. Linda in Kansas

  5. Where do you get your energy? This inquiring mind wants to know. It looks like bible school has been made fun for the kidlets.

  8. What a lovely close to such an important week of meetings! You've said things and done things that will echo in those little lives for all time---a sweet Thank You or comment so right for the time and their age, even if you didn't know it at the time.

Brava to all the teachers, minders, helpers, and KoolAid stirrers out there, in June Churches all over the land!

My ganjin Era has been going on since 1985, with Grands from 41 to threeee, and my T-shirt might be shocking.

  10. VBS is exhausting. Just ask me how I know! Ha! Love the snacks and laughed out loud at the fact that they didn't want to eat the unfamiliar snacks. I found a brand new Taylor Swift mug-never used, at the Goodwill this week for my granddaughter. I haven't told her yet and I know she'll be thrilled.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  12. Wow. I went with my cousins once when I was little to VBS for one day. It wasn't very fun to a kid who had never gone to church and not fun because it was so boring. I love that the kids had so much fun!
    Enjoy the concert.

  13. "Gramma era" I like that. Maybe I'll use "Nana era". So cute. My Grands had VBS too, fun learning experiences.

  16. I thought of helping out with our VBS which is combined with 2 other parishes and ends up with about 75 kids but I would have to go through the whole credentialing process. I thought I was done with all of that when I stopped working as a nurse...The finger printing, criminal back ground checks, the Safe environment training program and the code of Pastoral conduct all required by the state of PA. Once done , they are good for 5 years but I would not be able to get them done in time for this year's VBS...Thanks so much for all your visits and kind words and I really do want to see what your new hair cut looks like!!
    Hugs,

Thank you so much for stopping by to visit! I love your comments and suggestions and read them all. Due to spam, I will now have to approve all comments. Sometimes it takes me a hot minute to authorize comments due to grandchildren commitments. I apologize but I can't let those scammers get the upper hand!
