This is the week I am spending with twenty four 3 year olds at Vacation Bible School. We are learning that Jesus is the light and taking turns going to the potty. Sometimes we color. The theme is Illumination and that decorations are as over the top as usual. We get a little scared in the hallway but our classroom does not have the same lighting which makes us happier. I will try to catch up when we finish the week.
You may notice the giant white hoses. The entire air conditioning system at the church died last week. They have rented a temporary system that does not quite reach our classroom.
I can't believe how creative these folks are - this constructed from a bucket, a pool noodle and balloons.
OH NO.....one, maybe two but not 24! Have fun
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of kids for that age! Anyway, your photos are just wonderful Miss Merry. Enjoyed these very much. 😊👍👍
ReplyDeleteI'm still on break but had to comment because I'm doing VBS this week as well. Our air is working though!
ReplyDeleteHope all goes well. :)
24 !! Wow what fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun place to be.
ReplyDeleteYou are a brave, bold, woman.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of 4 year olds. There are some creative people involved there.
ReplyDeleteMy heart and my Remembral is right there, though the Hollywood spangles and pool noodles were WAY in the Indiana Jones future. I can just FEEL the energy of those little Threesies, with the bounce of ping pong and the sinew of a grizzly---and the scent---though all the scene is future-strange, I can smell that VBS scent---of bubble gum and paper, crayolas and chalk and GRAPE Kool-Aid (I imagine that one is gone with the bellbottoms, with all the new contraptions and straws and drink-bags to accommodate the Littles). In the Baptist, there was a hint of mimeograph tang, Old Spice from the preacher's office, warm energy and new t-shirts on all. as well as a lingering aura of beans and hot dogs from the Young Folks' choir practice on Sunday afternoons.
ReplyDeleteMethodist always had a special scent of Sanctity---crisp Cokesburys, the never-dwindle candles on the altar, and somehow a wisp of old wallets dipped in wine, though neither church was progressive enough for aught but grapejuice. And that great colorful burst of color and noise when break-time came---more of a HUSH to the crowd out the doors than the electric frenzy of the Baptist kids.
All those modern touches to reach the crowds---Small ones are today accustomed to bright, colorfully furnished, soft-floored halls, like safe arcades with times for prayer. Bless you in your March of the Ages: the glorious pantheon of VBS Mamas who steer the ship and wipe the noses, deal out cookies and guide our most precious gift up and out to bright futures.
I still think you are amazing, Miss Merry. And those kids are adorable.
ReplyDeleteYou are amazing, Miss Merry. Great event and lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteI can't even begin the count the number of VBS's that I've been involved in. Always fun, always rewarding and always exhausting! Your's looks like a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Betsy

ReplyDeleteA Week with 24 Three Year Olds, you are a Brave Soul my Friend... I would definitely require some Divine intervention to get thru that. *LOL and Winks* The Creativity is amazing and making a Magical Space for the Children, what a great job. Sorry the AC is kaput, we've been thru that every Summer in various establishments, whoever the Rental Biz is with those portable AC's is killing it Renting them out! When I was in the East Valley's Antique Mall I noticed they had supplemental AC and Fans going so must be having issues with theirs... it's gotten to 116 already {unofficially, the official temps are always lower and inaccurate}. Gonna be a long Hot one... they say El Nino will be stronger too so we may get high humidity and flooding with it... ugh.

ReplyDeleteWonderful theme. I wish my grandgirls still went to VBS.
ReplyDeleteAs far as I am concerned, VBS is usually a short holiday program for children at church. I love to see those cute boys and girls there. Have fun, kiddos!

Oh I assume you are nearing the end of your stint now - how much fun! And definitely some very creative beings there too. Hope that the air conditioning resurrects.
