| TJ Max I did not purchase anything |
You may have noticed I keep vanishing. I thought I owed you all an explanation. Mostly I have been lunching, lol. And walking. I had good intentions this fall and was putting together Christmas gift bags for different groups of friends that I lunch with. I was collecting items and had the bag, I was using lace doilies to line them. Then I got sick and tired and was too tired to continue. And I just kept cancelling out on invitations and people and not making doctor appointments. And the bags and items just sat on my dining room table. |
| Dishtowels labeled "Age 3 and Up" |
Now that I am drugged on cardiac medication, I have rejoined the real world. |
| Can you believe I did not purchase these either? |
Thursday I went to lunch with my high school friends at the same place that held my latest tea party. They were surprised we were still celebrating Christmas. |
| I did not purchase this teapot. |
I should mention I traded my Thursday at Church for Wednesday so I could join them and my last client arrived one minute before we closed so I got to work an extra hour. |
| I dd not purchase this coffee pot. |
Friday I was up bright and early so I could go on a Trader Joe trip with my stained glass classmates (our last class was in February of 2020). They were also surprised to find we were celebrating Christmas. |
| Trader Joe's. I did buy tulips. |
I was home by 11 am so I could go out of town and out to lunch with my daughter. We stopped by Red Lobster. Gosh, those biscuits which are not on my low sodium diet just melt in your mouth. Saturday I joined my retired work friends from the library at a pizza restaurant where I ordered chicken gumbo soup. I know that makes no sense. |
| I did not purchase these dishes. |
Monday I am piling in a car with neighbor friends and we are headed to a brunch restaurant. My church board meeting is in the afternoon and my crime podcast club meets in the evening. |
| I did not purchase these fabulous faux baked goods. |
This is what I dreamed of when I retired. Unfortunately the highlights of the rest of the month are doctor appointments ending with my final cataract surgery on the 31st. |
| I did not purchase this adorable set of plates. |
The other thing I do with my time is walk. Almost every day my prison warden track couch asks me if I want to go walk. I say no. We go to the indoor track anyway. I am mostly up to 2 miles but not consecutively. We do miss somedays because I am so busy lunching. We walk very very slowly and have to plan around school buses schedules and childcare. And we get tired in the evenings. But we are trying to be consistent and it does take a lot of time. I hope you enjoyed the results of my non-shopping trip. I am being firm with myself about bringing more into this house, especially since Easter dinner has been moved to my youngest daughter's home and we use paper plates. Not that I have parted with my existing Easter dishware, but I am not bringing home more.
I feel for you! Actually those plates and the teapot! I'm seriously thinking about hitting flea markets and second hand stores and finding one plate for each Holiday for myself. I rarely have any family around so one plate for each fun Holiday would be personally gratifying.
ReplyDeleteGood for you to still squeeze in walking!
What a fun non-shopping trip! Except yes for tulips! Pretty designs all! And now I want to see your Easter dinnerware too!
ReplyDeleteWell I certainly enjoyed hearing about Red Lobster and their cheddar biscuits and what you've been up to Miss Merry, but all these bunny dishes--this is a particularly girly blog today! :^)
ReplyDeleteYou do more in a week than I do in a year! I would like that teapot. I don't have any easter dishware.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blog
ReplyDeleteShopping and lunching and walking are all good. Now I have to go to TJ Maxx. I will not be as restrained as you! (But I did buy tulips at TJ's yesterday!). I have those brown bunny plates and I would like to pick up one or two more so I can have more than just Rick and me for dinner! I should never be allowed to buy another dish. But I don't think it's going to stop me this month! Oh, I love Peter Rabbit! I'm glad you are feeling well and up and about!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your non-purchasing shopping trip. I love the same sorts of "pretties" but rarely buy them anymore. I would be worn out if I had your schedule of lunches out!
ReplyDeleteI just want to hug every one of those delicate sweet creature creations to my bosom (very carefully). Your shopping excursion has sorta smoothed my feathers from the sudden GOTTA HAVE EASTER STUFF OUT as I removed the gold and green from tables and chandelier yesterday.
ReplyDeleteWhen the pastels and florals and wee denizens of the childhood stories start appearing on the screen, I just drink in all the sweet softness---even of china and plastic, and want to just immerse the house in SPRING. Loving all your activities, and praying every day for more and more energy to "get up and do what needs to be done," (God bless Garrison Keillor), to help with your recovery.
Then I just sit here, staring at the boxes and bins of all the wonderful, colorful, precious detritus of decades, and just pour a Third Cup and look at somebody else's house. It's an addiction, I tell you---Beatrix Potter and Walt Disney are calling right now.
PS: THE EYES are the thing!! You will be forever changed and So, So grateful.
Miss Merry, I love Easter! And I love bunnies! Those dishes are all adorable. I have some of them and I've given some to my daughter. Bought some in England when there years ago. But I think you are smart in taking pictures and not taking more home. I try to do this too. As for your lunches out, you amaze me. Since I no longer drive, I hardly lunch out... and to be honest, don't have much of an appetite at noon. But I do miss meeting friends on those occasions...
ReplyDeleteDear Miss Merry, I love ❤️ all your photos. Looks like a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great non-shopping trip! I’m not sure I’d have the same discipline to not purchase, there are some pretty cute items in this post. I love my Easter dishes and doodads that I’ve collected or I’ve rescued from family but, darn, these darling things keep coming up in the stores…it’s hard to resist. Good for you to hold on to your wallet. I walk everyday, I do enjoy it but it does take time! Some days I just don’t want to give it my time, but if I do, I’m always happy afterwards. We keep trying and moving and doing the best we can, most of my walking buddies are in their 80’s…a good example for me. Enjoy all your lunches and lovely family and friends, that’s just as important as anything! Spring arrives tomorrow! Best wishes, Virginia
ReplyDeleteps….dishtowels labeled …”age 3 and up”…..huh???
Such cute things and I'm glad you had the discipline not to purchase them. Good for you in keeping up on the walking. I need to be better about it. We have been walking on the beach and around the campground here on Galveston Island.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you have a great group of friends to go out and have fun with and I agree about those biscuits. They are AmAzINg.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
You showed great resolve in not buying those beautiful items. It is good that your life is so full. Long may it continue.
ReplyDeleteOMG. I am literally so happy that you are back and feeling more like yourself! Being on cardiac meds is such a huge adjustment, so it makes total sense that you needed to just chill for a bit. Those gift bags with the lace doilies sound absolutely precious, and I bet your high school friends were just so excited to finally celebrate Christmas with you, no matter how late it was. Good luck with your cataract surgery on the 31st, you are going to be seeing everything so much clearer soon.
ReplyDeleteWhy oh Why do I love all those Bunny dishes. You were strong. Good Girl.
ReplyDeleteI like non shopping also! Keep on keeping on!
ReplyDeleteYou are a breath of fresh air! Most of my shopping is also nonshopping these days.i have noticed the things I want the very most cannot be bought.
ReplyDeleteYou really showed such Restraint on what goodies you didn't Buy my Friend, I applaud you, I myself went down in Retail Therapy flames this past Weekend.
