Random

Since I can't seem to post on any sort of schedule or theme, I thought this post could be a list of random events and photos.

Big in my life, but no one elses - I chopped off my hair. Well, actually I went to a professional.

No after photo since I am not sure how I feel about it yet.

My daughter and I made a last ditch trip to the Amish greenhouses after birds and animals dug up her newly planted perennials.

No luck at our first farm.

And nothing but tomatoes and peppers left.

We did stop at the Mennonite grocery for meats and cheeses so it wasn't a wasted trip.

My daughter dropped me off at my church office where I saw six clients in one day, mostly my age. Don't tell me the economy is improving.

Good news and food porn.  I went to our area amusement park with two grandsons and their dad. I hestitated on renewing my pass in the fall because I wasn't sure I felt up to all the walking in the sun anymore. I am happy to report I was there for over 5 hours, walked almost four miles and was fine.  We also have meal passes.

This is a "hot honey chicken biscuit" and was the reason the grandsons wanted to go.

My son and I got the breakfast sandwich. Everything came with a ridiculous amount of tater tots. I did eat the sandwich which I am sure was over my sodium allowance for the day.

I ordered three sides for lunch, the chicken dumplings (which are like tiny noodles but delicious), fried potatoes and fruit. My grandson saw it and said, oh, that is what I meant to order.

So I traded for the steak, fried potatoes (covered in salt) and salty biscuit.  I only ate the steak.  It was good, but not as good as the chicken dumplings (which I am sure are loaded with sodium too).

Mr Merry is having a rough summer with sciatica and busitis so I doubt he will be making anymore visits.

We have four grandchildren playing baseball this summer altough one broke his foot the first week and isn't actually released to play yet.

A steam locomotive traveled by my area and I got to spend an afternoon in a lawn chair by the cemetary's fence where my husband thought he could get a good view.

My oldest son took a break from his volunteer job restoring a different steam locomotive at a railroad museum nearby to join us.

A photo of me from 1975 with short hair. This is my reminder that it will grow . . .

  1. I've always thought men's haircuts (and boys) were quite severe and improved few weeks later. Now I feel the same about my hair. Does it really need cutting every 4 weeks? I took off the winter length a month ago, and have postponed the second cut, but will have it next week. I dearly love the style he cuts, and will miss having someone who can make my cowlick behave almost (when I move out of state.)

  2. Miss Merry, you still seem very busy and active to me... and that's a lot of fried food... but hey, sometimes you need a treat. And I'm dying to see your short hair.

  3. So we must be thinking alike. I needed a haircut and the one that normally does my hair was booked out for 6 more weeks, so I took the new gal at her shop and told her to go real short but not 1960's bangs!

The other gal was like...real short? That was a change from the last visits. I don't care if my hair is messy because I always have an array of hats!

I've gone from very long to very short much to the disdain of hubby at times. But yeah, it grows.

I hope Mr. Merry feels better soon!

  4. You cut your hair off when I'm "trying" to grow mine. It's been a little over 2 months since I got it cut and it's driving me crazy. I know that it takes patience to get it through the icky stage to where I can do something with it but it's frustrating.
The food all looks so yummy. The honey chicken biscuit both looks and sounds amazing!
Sorry about your Hubby's bursitis and sciatica. I often have sciatica and can empathize with him. Poor guy. But you did amazing with your walking. Good job.
I spent an 1 1/2 hours in the pool with Piper today here at the condo. We had it all to ourselves and she sure gave me a workout. I probably won't be able to get out of bed tomorrow! Ha!
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  5. Congrats on the little haircut. I used to have straight long hair and was so flustered when I decided to go short, that the poor beautician cut it 4 times at the same sitting before we got to the goal. Linda in Kansas

  6. Good job on the walking. Can I ask the name of your park?

  7. I have very fast growing hair, so if I don't like the cut it will change in a week. The photos of the food made me really want some of that kind of food. The crispy fried and a biscuit. Oh, yes.

  9. Great job on the walking, dear Miss Merry! I love all your photos! It always takes time to get used to a new haircut! I gone mine done recently, (with bangs!) and for decades I never had bangs! But now I really like it and I get many compliments on it, so I am very happy I got it done.
I hope you have a great week ahead!

  10. The Big Boy was at our Steam Town Locomotive museum in Scranton, Pa. for several days for maintenance and was parked next to the big boy that is permanently there. It drew over 65,000 people in the first 2 days there!!!! The lines were really something....I will go see the one we have there all the time.. We took the boys there many years ago....It is only a few blocks away from where my son Joey works...

Sometimes it takes me a hot minute to authorize comments due to grandchildren commitments. I apologize but I can't let those scammers get the upper hand!
