Well, we survived voting day. Our county had over 49% of registered voters cast a vote and at my precinct we averaged 1 voter every 1.5 minutes. I want to thank Mr. Merry who answered my 911 call when I was 12 hours in and brought me some ugly comfortable shoes to replace my cutie girl boots.
We do a "pot-luck" which means try to grab some food when you can. I decided individual cups would work well. We set up extra tables near our stations to set our food and drink on so that we did not mix with anything official. I found the cups on Amazon.
Here was the tray. I made 15 cups for our 12 workers. Three people raved about them. Two others grabbed one and I brought the rest home where my family fought over them.
And here we are all sparkly to watch the Taylor Swift movie at the drive-in. It was so much fun!
My grandson stayed home with grampa. And - the drive-in sold light up rings at the concession stand!
A bonus picture. Grampa and Mimi at the Nursery School Trunk or Treat.
I can't believe those cups weren't completely gone immediately. They look very good and beautiful too. Thank you for being willing to work at the polling place.
ReplyDeleteYou all looked very nice for the movie and also Grandpa at the truck or treat. Fun times for all!
Blessings,
Betsy
Thanks for the photos of the charcuterie cups as I just couldn't visualise them. They look perfect for grabbing a quick snack. You look very sparkly in your outfits for the drive in.
ReplyDeleteThe cups looked wonderful! You all looked very cute for your Taylor Swift show, love the bonus picture too. Those kids are too sweet. Gee Miss Merry, you're just what the doctor ordered. 🙂
ReplyDeleteThe charcuterie cups are a great idea and look delicious!
ReplyDeleteYou have an artistic flair! Fun activites except for the fancy shoes!
ReplyDeleteLove the sparkly outer wear and the charcuterie cups.
ReplyDeleteI love your cup idea and how you made 'roses' out of the meat. And I second the 'thank you' for working the poll. Also love your trunk or treat! I've heard of those gatherings here in church parking lots but never visualized how they could look.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely charming and delicious! What a neat idea, and what a lovely presentation. And Thank You for your Service---I just got back in from my usual Friday Morning prayer "when the siren sounds" to give thanks and ask for grace and safety and health for all our folks out there responding to sirens of all kinds, teaching our children, working those ox-sized hours at hospitals and always on watch on our behalf when we're sleeping our safe sleep. I admire and appreciate all who give so freely of their lives for their town, county, country.
ReplyDeleteJust think---one of those dainty roses might be the oil for the tiniest cog in the engine of our country, just because you cared enough to prepare such a refreshing repast for that long, trying day. You shine even more than those sequins, Miss Merry!
Yum! All of those cups would have been swept up by me and I'd have eaten them! Yum.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your work on election day!
And your outfits look fantastic.
Amazed your cups didn't get gobbled up pronto. They look fantastic. I saw folks trying to get a bite here and there while I waited in line to vote, and they seemed to have enough people that people took breaks of about 15 minutes. Thank you for working the polls. It's so important. I heard several folks say they would like to work the polls if they did half shifts. It does make for a very long day. Isn't it a shame that only 49% of those folks voted. I'm always amazed, and a bit angered at the number of people who don't vote. I don't know what our percentages was, but I waited 40 minutes which is very unusual, so maybe that means voter turnout was good? Hope you had fun at the movies...cute outfits.
