The First Concert

Just a little update on the free concert in the park in our small town last night.  I packed some fruit and cheese, a cooler with drinks, our lawn chairs and a small table and we got caught in traffic.

The band is a dad with three daughters, one son and the son's friend who dad met at their high school production of Grease ths spring.  They are sensational.

We aren't the only people who think so.  This is seating on the terraced hill in front  of the stage. We are in those trees WAY back there behind the stage.  (in the shade). From our seat, we can't even see the audience.

We don't mind that we can't see because the sound is great.   We aren't sure how many attended but last year's appearance drew 500 people and there were many more this year!  What a lovely evening.

  8. They sound great! So much fun for everyone. That building is perfect for acoustics. I would also be way back in the shade too.
    Blessings and hugs,

  13. I can FEEL the expectant Spring air of the evening's preparations---the carrying in of the instruments, the setup, the tests as the audience gathers, talking and greeting amongst themselves and having some friendly vying for the best view and space for the picnic. There's just something about a hometown band or singing group that puts an air of pride in everyone's heart, as well as just the atmosphere of such a genial gathering.

The setup, the connections, the tests and the moments edging to curtain time---as much expectancy and glad waiting as Broadway, and twice as much pride in the audience. I have such fond memories of those unforgettable evenings---I lived with a drummer for twelve years, and where do they practice?---where the biggest instrument lives. I always said no nail in my house was still in the original hole.

Wonderful memories, and I'm glad you have your own of such great and magical evenings.
