My god-daughter has a beef farm in Wisconsin and sponsors a recipe contest every year. She provides the recipes and, if you live near her, you can purchase all the meat and some of the specialty items in a package. I had previously shared week 1 and week 2, here are the rest of the recipes.
Week 6: last night. We really enjoyed the Pesto Butter Skirt Steak with Crispy Garlic Butter Parmesan Potatoes and Asparagus Spears
Week 5: Beef Shank Asian Lettuce Wraps. Good, but our beef shanks were a little greasy. Where is the lettuce?
My hint to keep grocery prices down is to shop at one store. And this was what lettuce looked like when I was there. The fancy ones were brown and the iceberg was doll sized. My husband had his on hamburger buns.
Week 3: Raspberry Balsamic Pork Roast with Mascarpone Polenta. Well. First, her package provides the polenta grain from a small farm near her. The only grocery in my small town with polenta was (gasp) (groan) Walmart and all they had was premade polenta in a TUBE. I found directions to make it creamy. I truly hope this isn't what polenta is supposed to taste like. I also had to search for mascarpone cheese. All in all, this was a very expensive dinner and neither of us really cared for it. But it was pretty on the plate.
That is the end of the recipes (I had shared 1 & 2 earlier). Now I have to think of what to have for dinner all by myself!
When I was going through my food porn, I found a few more pictures.
A itty bitty village near us has a cafe with new owners. They are the cutest couple, both named Adam, and this is the Tuesday Special, chicken and biscuits. And tea comes with a teapot! I do lunch once a month with my "glass class" girls, who were in my stained glass classes at the senior center. After covid the classes never resumed. Neither did most of the other classes. Now they are building a four million dollar senior center with Biden bucks which is requiring a new higher operating levy on our ballot this month.
I run a diner for grandkids and grampa on weekday mornings. Some teachers hear about the menus and threaten to join us. I took these pictures to stop them in their tracks. As I ran through the choices one morning, these two chose leftover spaghetti from my frig for breakfast.
All of your dishes look too pretty to even eat! Good thing no one looks at my plates of food!
ReplyDeleteOur are of Wisconsin has some very interesting small farms with all sorts of events like your god daughter's recipe contest. How fun and interesting. My hubby is strictly a meat and potato guy. Don't introduce anything that isn't easy to pronounce! LOL!
Spaghetti for breakfast is certainly a good choice. We used to eat things like that when I was a kid...including soup!
I'd love to hang out with others at a cafe! Sounds delightful.
My gosh, these plates looked wonderful Miss Merry. And too funny about the spaghetti for breakfast, that is my kind of meal. π
ReplyDeleteThose are boys after my own heart! The food looks great. If you decide to try polenta again, you don't need to buy something labeled polenta. It's just cornmeal and can be from coarse ground to fine. Your paying more for the name on the package.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so delicious! I love chicken and biscuits so I would definitely be visiting that new diner. Dennis would choose the spaghetti, or pizza if you had it, for breakfast.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and love,
Betsy
All that food does look pretty on the plate. I would love to have a bite.
ReplyDeleteFun to see all the different from what we eat foods:) I have no idea what polenta is supposed to taste like or risotto either. I have resorted to buying lettuce in a bag because head lettuce looks awful.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks good, but the pork sounds fantastic!! Hope you have some left overs cause I'm on my way and will bring a bottle of wine.
ReplyDeleteSandy's Space
Everything looks yummy...I learned to eat anything in the morning after working night shift for 37 years...including pizza and spaghetti....Thanks so much for all your visits and kind words!! It hit 65 today after we got about an inch of snow from a snow squall on Sunday....I hope you are having a great week!!

Deb
That first plate of food looks so good! And the chicken and biscuits looks amazing, too!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen iceberg lettuce that tiny. I think I'd pass on that, too, unless they were half priced so you could get a couple to equal one normal one.
That's awesome that the grandkids chose spaghetti for breakfast. I would never eat something that wasn't a breakfast food for breakfast when I was a kid, but the older I get, the more I like doing it. Good spaghetti is good pretty much any time of day!
everything looks so delicious ππ now I'm hungry, share recipe please :D
ReplyDeleteOMG I am soooo hungry now seeing thisss... I love everthing but you got me drooling over Pesto Butter Skirt Steak .. anything pestoo is as π chefs Kiss.
