I always share that you know you are an old lady when the excitement of a day out of the house is a visit to the fancy grocery store. Trader Joe's is almost an hour away. My wonderful friend Pat organized us, we packed our coolers and hit the road at 8:30 a.m.
So bright and welcoming.
In other news, the family that I purchase my steer quarters watched me share my goddaughter's (who raises cattle in another state) recipe challenge contest on the Book of Faces and is having her own Recipe Challenge Contest. Hers is a little more loose, no real recipes, just suggestions from cuts of meat.
Week one was tacos and I made my taco tarts.
I really like that for at least two or three nights a week (we are only a family of two so lots of leftovers), I don't have to think of what to have for dinner, lol.
Tomorrow I am in the charity office all day. I will get home in time to get the kids off the bus, take them to their other gramma and Mr Merry and I will hit the road for two hours to attend a high school play.
Friday my daughter has a free day in exchange for evening parent teacher conferences all week. We are going out to lunch and shopping for a dressy shirt for me.
Saturday my middle son is getting married in a casual ceremony. The mother of the bride and I are wearing black slacks. I need something that makes me look about 6" taller and much much thinner. And maybe younger? I'll let you know how shopping goes.

Dear Miss Merry, I saw a box of herbal tea in your cart. I love ❤️ all kinds of tea. Your meals look delicious. The trick or treat bags are nice.
ReplyDeleteTrader Joes isn't close to me either - about 45 minutes, so I don't go often but it sure is fun when I do. You got some good stuff! I think you should have gotten flowers too. ;)
ReplyDeleteGood luck on the clothes shopping and congrats on the wedding!
This sure was my kind of post Miss Merry, loved the Trader Joe pics and the beef sandwiches and stew too! Good grief, it's 10:30 pm and you have my mouth drooling :^)~
ReplyDeleteSounds as if you need a really special outfit! You'll look wonderful. I agree that it's good to have food ready for a couple of nights. I like to cook but not every day.
ReplyDeleteCan you pass along the name of that store? My oldest daughter is getting married on the 24th.
ReplyDeleteA wedding how fun I hope you find the perfect dressy shirt! I have never been in a Trader Joes the nearsest one is 3 plus hours away.
ReplyDeleteI would also be very excited to go to Trader Joe's. I've only ever been once, but I loved it.
ReplyDeleteYour beef stew looks great! That's something I've never been able to make well.
I hope your shopping day goes well.
Having meals already prepared is a real treat. Good luck with the shopping. Look forward to seeing the outfit of the day.
ReplyDeleteI will only be making a tiny pot roast now, but I have always added tomatoes to my meat when cooking as it tenderizes it even more. Yummy looking food.
ReplyDeleteI've never been to TJ's but may find one at some point.
Of course I did make a trip to a craft shop which was fun!
Black seems to be the new look for weddings. The one I went to last week, all the moms and dads wore black.
Beautiful blog
ReplyDeleteSounding like you are busy, busy, busy.....that is a good thing. Problem, busy usually wears me out! lol....A long black casual dress with heels would help with the tall, thin look, sorry, no suggesting for looking younger...lol. There is nothing close to a TJ around here! The closest we get to that would be Dollar General...lol
ReplyDeleteOh gosh... I haven't been to TJs in Chicago since May. I do love that store too. However, my daughter often sends me things. People from Hawaii always go there when they fly to Vegas. :-D
ReplyDeleteI so wish we had a Trader's Joe's here in NEPA...I think the closet one is in Phila. Thanks so much for always taking the time to visit!! I truly do appreciate it!
