The Wedding

This Saturday my son, his fiance, his two sons, her daughter and her boyfriend, his parents, her parents and my son-in-law who has a license to marry people gathered at a pond. And they got married.

There are no photos of me in this post because I did not find any clothing to make me appear taller and thinner.  Actually I wore an outfit from my closet that made me look wider (although I did not believe that could be possible).

The bride and groom.

I didn't just gain a daughter - I gained a granddaughter, too!!!

Most of my children are clowns. Isn't the cake beautiful? The bride ordered the two layers and her mother decorated it with fresh flowers.

The night before the wedding they were feverishly cleaning their house to host the siblings and their families, as well as the parents, for barbeque.  We have a family group chat and my son was complaining that he was washing the driveway while she scrubbed showers, nothing necessary to the party.

My oldest daughter checking the shower out with a selfie. I wish I could share the expression on her face.

The ceremony was held up by the tall twelve year old in the photos who had a conference cross country final in the morning. He placed second overall in the conference and led his school to first place. He will run at state next week. He then got up at 6am today to run in the local 5K for charity and placed first. He had a soccer game nearby at 1:00 pm and then a make up soccer game about 90 minutes away at 7:00 p.m. On a school night.  And that is how the happy couple spent their honeymoon.

I laughed about the cleaning taking place. I think we can all relate.

  7. What a lovely ceremony. I'm a tad concerned that the groom has the cake cutting knife at his throat so soon into the marriage. Aww yes, clowns. Linda in Kansas

  9. Looks like it was a beautiful wedding. I have to chuckle at the no outfit that made you look different. I have seen pics of you and you look just wonderful.
The cleaning. Yep, been there and did that! We had an event here long time ago and I had to repaint the outhouse!
I bet the 12 yr old is one heck of an athlete!

  10. Oh dear! I remember the first time I was meeting a relative. I was cleaning everything. I knew I had gone off the deep end when I was scrubbing my Pyrex baking dish and burst into tears: 'I am sure that they don't have brown spots on their pyrex...'

Ahem. In my defense I was young.

The wedding looks wonderful, and everyone looks as if they had a great time if the smiling faces are any indication!

  11. Love this, Miss Merry! A small wedding on a pier... or a beach... in the woods, etc. sounds perfect to me. And you have a wonderful family - looks like they are all especially busy like yourself. I used to clean 'everything' when company came. Now that I'm old ... I just clean the main areas and have given up on my office area (they seldom have to go in there anyway - it's my 'store it all' place.)

  12. A POND PARTY!!! What a splendiferous way to join a family and cement a bond. Congratulations to one and all on the new family connections, and I hope that lucky new Granddaughter knows what a fabulous family she's gaining---I cannot imagine a better welcome.

How sweet to have such new branches on your Family Tree!
