Yes, I know I will get points taken off my grade for submitting late assignments.
Meanwhile. I determined a few years back that if I wanted things in the world to be the way I wanted them to be, I would need to do it myself. I had an idea for celebrating myself for Mother's Day and moved ahead. I invited both my daughters and both my daughter in-laws, both my granddaughters and step granddaughters, as well as their mother and mother in-laws to tea. Only my youngest daughter and granddaughter had room in their busy schedules. I made the reservations.
 |
| The facility shared this photo of the scones baked that morning. |
Not only was the reservation for a special Mother's Day Tea, but there were ADD ONS. Of course I signed up for the optional Flower Bar and optional Mimosa Bar!
We dressed up and arrived on time. We had a champagne bucket on the table and a glass of sparkling grape juice for my granddaughter.

| This was also posted by the facility. |
The menu was scrumptious (as usual). My daughter and I each chose our favorite pot of tea and my granddaughter had a whole tea pot of hot chocolate.
These are my actual sandwiches, clockwise from bottom, Chicken Salad Croissant, Pumpkin Bread, Shredded Carrot Bruschetta (which was a baked sandwich with a cheese sauce), Carmelized Onion Jam with Apple on White, Turkey and Cranberry Cream Cheese on White, Egg Salad on Wheat and Bacon, White Cheddar and Roasted Tomato on Wheat. Each one was as good as the next.
Our table was very full!!!
They do offer a smaller "Princess" plate for children but my granddaughter prefers the tiered tray for adults.
The middle tiers were slightly different. Mine showcases the Blondie (My girls had a chocolate peanutbutter brownie), a Fruit Cookie, Chocolate Mousse, and a scone.
And the top tier featured Homemade Canoli, Strawberry Shortcake and Almond Layer Cake which was something I am still dreaming about.
Now let's talk about the Mimosa Bar.
We had decided that a bottle for $25 was a better bargain than two glasses for $20. Neither of us is a drinker, but this was a special occasion! There was lots of fresh fruit and mixers.
We tried champagne with orange juice, cranberry juice and pink lemonade. My daughter's favorite was pink lemonade and my favorite was cranberry juice. We did not try the syrups.
My daughter as maitre 'd.
Posing my champagne glass.
Sparkling Grape Juice.
The Cranberry Mimosa.
As you can tell I was enthralled with the Champagne Bar. I was documenting for future parties and celebrations. Then I went to my cardiologist appointment a few weeks ago and found that my newest forever prescriptions require zero alcohol and this was my final hurrah. We are slowing down my heart rate and blood pressure to ease the strain on my heart and alcohol will reduce it further to dangerous levels.
Now on to the Flower Bar. This was my first flower bar, too, and I was very impressed.
We had lots of flowers to chose from.
Of course I purchased the Flower Bar for everyone.
We all chose our own flowers.
The ribbons were to tie your bouquet together.
The bouquets actually lasted over two weeks.
Happy Mother's Day!
(and don't worry - Mr Merry drove us to the tea and my daughter's husband picked us up afterwards).
This was a Post worth waiting for, looks like a lovely Mother's Day Three Generation time together to Celebrate it! The Food Porn is wonderful. I'd have to stick with the Kids Sparkling Cider since I do not drink and as I recall Champagne made my Head really hurt even with a single glass of it long ago. I have a low threshold for Spirits of any kind, but I'm sorry that was your last hurrah for it due to Medical Reasons. I've never seen a Champagne Bar or Flower Bar, tho' there is a Tea Room similar to this in Cave Creek/Carefree owned by a British Woman that is wonderful. I haven't been for Years and now you're making me think I should make another Pilgrimage there with Princess T to have Tea. She and I used to have Mad Tea Parties the whole time she was growing up and often went to that Tea House. We haven't been to one since she became an Adult, so we're long overdue now.
ReplyDeleteGood for you in planning your own celebration. This sounds like SO much fun! I've never heard of a flower bar before. The tea itself looks wonderful, so many good sandwiches and desserts. I would love to try that. I need to see if there is anywhere like that around here. You are all beautiful ladies and your granddaughter looks like she was having great fun with Mom and Grandma.
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain.I'm not allowed alcohol with my meds either. I never really liked to drink but it was nice to have the option.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
That sounds like a wonderful Mother's Day celebration!
ReplyDeleteI'm not taking points off for being late, this was worth it! What an absolutely fun time. I wish there was one near us.
ReplyDeleteWhat an elegant way to experience Mother's Day! So glad you took photos of everything! I'm sure it was a real taste treat, as well as flowers to enjoy for the next week for each of you.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like an ideal way to celebrate Mothers Day with your dear daughter and granddaughter and delicious food, champagne and flowers. You had a great idea.
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna have to come back later to do justice to this fabulous party---somehow amongst all the yea and nay and wonderful comestibles and lovely afternoon, my cheeks are wet. DAYUM.
ReplyDeleteYour granddaughter is a smart cookie and adorable, as is your daughter.❣️ What a simply delightful day you made, fun and memories and traditions….well done you! And you look wonderful! ❣️Hope you feel wonderful too. Wishing you and yours happy, healthy and fun days this new week, xox, Virginia
ReplyDeleteYou are a force to be reckoned with. I love it that you are so organized in special events that you enjoy having.
ReplyDeleteI have no such talent, but I can muck a stall. :-O
What a beautiful thing to do for Mother's Day!
Your granddaughter is adorable. Those freckles! You do know how to throw a party, Miss Merry.
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet. What a great idea for Mothers Day! I love those sandwiches and the flowers. Your granddaughter is so cute. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteFrom the written head-count, you might have had at least a DOZEN at your soiree---I hope those with other plans will see the fabulous fete they missed! And fabulous it was---I do believe, out of all the tearoom offerings in all the Internet's wide assortment of magnificent menus---this has to be right up with Michelin and Forbes and AAA's finest. All those elegant confections and Champagne and flowers to boot? That place must be packed every Teatime.
ReplyDeleteOh, the ideas I'm having---that carrot thing and the almond cake---I haven't made one in years, but it's a moist, dense wonder with almond meal and a drop of almond extract. What a wonderful afternoon with two special ladies---you Blue Crew must have outshined any patrons in the place. You've been under the weather for so long, I was most gladdened to see how very vital and glowing you look, and your hair is simply phenomenal.
I'd have given a trip to Paris to be at the next table with my PINK crowd, sharing hellos and addresses and invitations like confetti, and talking like magpies. What marvelous, intricate, colorful lives we lead, and we'd not exchange with anyone. This is your best post EVER.
What a special time! Beautiful ladies! Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteYou always amaze me, Miss Merry. But i like your taking charge and 'doing it yourself' if you want it done. I tend to let it go unless someone else plans it... and they seldom do. Perhaps I will try it your way. I love tea parties and did many when the kids were little. Perhaps I need to find a tea room around here. Yours looks absolutely wonderul!
ReplyDeleteI would love LOVE going to a tea room like that. Everyone looked pretty and delicious! Never heard of a flower bar but that was a great add-on. Love that three generations of your family could enjoy this special day together.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful Mother’s Day!
ReplyDeleteThe tea, the champagne bar, and the flower bar all sound so special.
The food looks amazing, and the flowers lasting two weeks must have been such a joy.
You really made it a day to remember. 🌸💕
This is totally fantastic! The mimosa bar is brilliant and I need to remember that for a brunch or holiday. And the food looks gorgeous and delicious too. I like the idea of the flower bar. What a perfectly memorable way to celebrate Mother's Day.
ReplyDeleteDear Miss Merry, your granddaughter is gorgeous. Looks like a wonderful Mother's Day. Tea, hot chocolate and delicious 😋 sandwiches and pastries.
