We had a house full of grandchildren with no school today and whose parents had to work. After lunch we drove out in the country to our favorite ice cream stand. We had almost made it back to town when my car coughed. And stopped.
We had to call a flat bed wrecker. This is an unhappy man.
These are concerned passengers.
The littlest one told his stepdad that a very bad thing happened but a kinda good bad thing too. (That would be watching the tow operator at work). We all loved the tow truck man.
My oldest two sons work nights and were asleep. My youngest son was on special assignment with the police department and couldn't answer his phone. My youngest daughter was two towns away but was able to swing by and pick us up.
I can't wait to hear what went wrong and how much it will cost to fix it. But at least we had ice cream first.
No! I hate car issues, and it's even worse when it happens suddenly when you are driving.
ReplyDeleteI hope it's not too bad of a repair.
Good thing you had ice cream! Fortifies the waiting kids. We had that happen one time it was a broken timing belt and it was never the same again after the repair.
ReplyDeleteWith a little pre-planning, we could insure that all emergencies were preceded with ice cream. Good luck with the car.
ReplyDeleteOh...darn. Well at least it wasn't raining and there was ice cream to be had. Sorry about the car troubles. I hate having that happen!
ReplyDeleteWhat an ADVENTURE!! And the Command Performance from a Tow Truck Operation right there just for them---I confess I always loved the little videos of the big trucks and excavators when we were getting ready for nap time as much as the children. Sending hopes for "It was just the . . ." and "I've got a part to fit that . . ." to get you up and running. PS I've got a four-pack of Eskimo Pies in the fridge for a little share-out surprise on the dessert plates---we watched a fun show the other day with folks judging all the flavors and products, and I thought this would be a funny tidbit to set a sliver beside the Strawberry cake.
ReplyDeleteHow very frustrating. Well, I'm glad you had ice cream first -- that probably made things a bit more palatable. Still... hope it isn't too expensive.
ReplyDeleteHopefully the children will look back on this as a grand adventure. And indeed: lucky you did have the icecreams first : )
ReplyDeleteTerrible thing to happen. Glad you could get a tow truck, at least. I remember getting a flat tire at 6:30 pm. A female bus driver changed our tire, thank God. What a gem! It was after 8 pm when we got home. Since then, we subscribe to AAA for roadside assistance.
