Recipe contest

More of my October catch up.

My goddaughter, who lives several states away, is a beef producer and hosts a recipe challenge contest once or twice a year.  I participate mostly because I like an answer when I ask the universe "what should I make for dinner tonight?"

I actually purchase my beef from a local family; the husband was in my 4H club many years ago.  His wife is a registered nurse and they have three little boys. She decided to host their first recipe challenge.

My interpretation was my taco tartlet recipe:

This was our favorite!

This was in the oven when the kids got off the school bus and my kindergartener said "My, gramma, your house smells delicious".

We traveled almost two hours away twice the week before - to watch our second oldest grandson compete in district soccer meets. We also sat on metal bleachers for the 80 minutes it would take them to play the games which they won! Unfortunately when it came to regionals that were even farther from us, we decided to watch from home. And they lost in overtime by one point with 4 seconds left in the game.

This is the Spooky Macaroni salad I made for my grandson's birthday.  I boil the macaroni, drain, and put in zip lock bags with orange (red & yellow), green and purple (red & blue) food coloring and shake to coat. Rinse in cold water.  I ran out of food coloring and it looks more healthy than spooky.

The next day I went to our local IGA. They were out of food coloring. I went to Aldi. They do not have food coloring yet since it is seasonal. I thought about going to Walmart but it is a long walk to the food coloring and I had Aldi groceries in the car.  I stopped at another grocery near to my house. A four pack of liquid food coloring was $6.75!  I almost fainted. But I have to have food coloring.  When I got home, I looked on Amazon.  They had a four pack of liquid food coloring for $1.65. I ordered two.

And for no reason except it was on my camera roll - here is my oven fried chicken.

  6. All look so good but the hamburger steak bake with mashed potatoes and gravy is something I love. Looks like the kind of meal mama would make. So good and stays with ya.

  9. Everything looks so good. I saw a new recipe on YouTube this week and tried it. So simple. Cheeseburger bake in the crockpot. Just potatoes, browned hamburger, mushroom soup, (or whatever creamy soup you like), and cheeses. Just layer in that order, twice in the crockpot and bake for 5 hours on low. I added onions to my layers because you have to have onions on a cheeseburger.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

Thank you so much for stopping by to visit! I love your comments and suggestions and read them all. Due to spam, I will now have to approve all comments. Sometimes it takes me a hot minute to authorize comments due to grandchildren commitments. I apologize but I can't let those scammers get the upper hand!
