I am scheduled for cataract surgery on Tuesday February 24 so I am scheduling this to post on Wednesday. I am not sure how well I will be able to see during the week and I have some other stuff going on but I hope to be back soon!
We finally were able to attend a tea party at the new catering facility in a nearby town! My granddaughter thought she was coming to tea at Mimi's house and was surprised that we were going somewhere even more fancy!
That is a Valentine's tree. We were the only group wearing hats. I think some need an education in tea parties!
This is for one person. We all got our own tiered tray. They require you preorder and prepay for the tea. I reserved three adult teas. The host who seated us told me that I could switch my granddaughter to the "princess" tea which had peanut butter and jelly and some treats for a lesser price. I told her we would keep the adult teas.
When we each got our individual pots of tea they again offered to switch her to the child's tea. This princess was not going to trade a three tiered tray for a plate of peanut butter and jelly! (it was nice of them to offer the alternative).
Even water tastes better in a glass goblet!
She was not wild about the tea, but next time we can substitute hot cocoa. This is a nice photo of the savories on the bottom tier. There are Egg Salad Sandwiches on white bread, a Cheddar Bacon Scone, Turkey and Honey Creme Fraiche on White Bread and Prosciutto with Caramelized Onion Jam and Apple on wheat bread.
The middle tier had a Blueberry Scone, a Strawberry Cheesecake with the most delicious strawberry, and a Raspberry Swirl Cupcake with a Heart Macaroon.
And the top tier featured an Expresso Chocolate Cake, an Almond Layer Tea Cake, and a Chocolate Dipped Cannoli.
As experienced Tea Partiers we looked over the selection and decided what needed to be eaten fresh and what would travel well. We all tried one of each sandwich, we ate the cheesecake and raspberry cupcake and macaroon and cut the scones and ate half.
They had lovely little boxes and my granddaughter is looking forward to showing off her leftovers in the school lunchroom tomorrow!
The total cost for the adult tea is $32 which I thought was reasonable for the experience, the pot of tea and all the foods which were homemade in house. It was a special treat and I am sure we will go again in the coming months.
Another nice feature they offer is that you can also order from a special brunch menu instead of ordering the tea. If I could talk Mr Merry into attending, he could even order a burger instead of tea. We will see if that can happen.

Beautiful tea party! Good luck on the surgery, mine went so well I hope yours does also!
ReplyDeleteLa tea da! Such ladies enjoying looking smart, and chatting over yummies. Macarons are the little hearts (not macaroons, which have coconut). I learned that from my daughter-in-law who bakes them! Great to have a special place and such lovely treats...and shared with family members. It is definitely a woman thing!
ReplyDeleteOh Miss Merry, I get such a kick from your posts--this was just awesome, I need to go back and look at all those treats again :^) Your granddaughter is a sweetheart (love the dainty hats) and both she and your daughter are just beautiful. I will be thinking, hoping and saying a little prayer for you today that your cataract surgery goes well. I'm honestly surprised how many people (it seems to be women more than men) who need this surgery in their late 60s. Take care MM.
ReplyDeleteReasonable? That's unbelievable. The English tea we had in 2024 was 44 pounds (59.45 today), not counting taxes and believe me -- it was skimpy compared to this. I would love to know where this was! Everything looks absolutely gorgeous from the food right down to three of patrons! I'm hoping that your cataract surgery went well. They really aren't too bad, but it's always weird having people poking around your eyes!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like so much fun! I wish they had something like that near me.
ReplyDeleteHope you are doing well today!
Oh everything looks delicious! What fun for you all! Best of luck with the cataract surgery, my husband has his first one next MondayMarch 2.
ReplyDeleteThat looks delicious! What a great time to spend with your girls!
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful tea party! It looks yummy and you three look fabulous…happy memories for certain. Best of luck on your surgery and I wish you a happy last week of February. xo, Virginia
ReplyDeleteThey certainly do need a lesson in the proper tea apparel! $32 is a very good price. I hope your procedure went well and you bounce back quickly.
ReplyDeleteReally fancy and cute! Your hats definitely complete the atmosphere. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteI have just floated through Time this sunny morning---back to a sweeter moment sealed in glass, and remembered for always, for every picture COULD have been from another era, with no real hint of the future save for the hemlines! It was such a luxurious event, you three ladies in your stylish hats, possibly Fictional Characters whirled back to such lovely dainties and charming company
ReplyDeleteIndeed, Miss Lucy Maud Montgomery might have taken a pen to this event, with the Great-Granddaughter of dear Anne Shirley, who would have been SO proud to be at your table. Her name came to me as Tillie, for the tilted hat and infections smiles---Mehtilda, I think, pronounced like the Professional's Hero Leon.
And Oh, the refreshments and the colors and all the shining table appointments---a tea stand all to yourself---what riches, and what a sumptuous menu! It BRIGHTS my heart to see you having such a lovely experience---a Day's difference would have permitted you to SEE the beautiful scene and people more easily, but there will be another soon, I hope, for the full, rich, colorful adventure. I'd be there in a heartbeat. My Treat!
Dear Miss Merry, my thoughts are with you on your surgery, dear friend.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing tea party! Beautiful photos! Everyone looks fantastic!
The tea, dishes and all the goodies look scrumptious!!!
Everything looks so beautiful--the food, the setting, and the three of you enjoying it together!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful experience to share, and such a treat for your granddaughter.
Wishing you the very best with your cataract surgery and a smooth recovery.
Love tea parties! Haven't been to one in ages. Yours looks lovely. We did have tea parties at the house when the granddaughters were young. Hope your cataract surgery went well. Sending you lots of good vibes and hugs!
ReplyDeleteLove the photos of the tea party. Everything looks delicious. We've had tea at a couple of fancy London hotels and some garden teas around the UK. They weren't any better than what you got. (In my opinion.) And, they cost a LOT more. One of the hotels was $350.00 per person. And no, we didn't pay, it was a gift to us.
ReplyDeleteI would love to attend tea with you someday.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
What fun. All that for one person though! My gosh! Your granddaughter will be talking about this day for a long time. I bet!
ReplyDeleteOMG, that looks like so much fun! We have a few places around here that do tea like that, and I'm dying to try one! I'm glad you got your granddaughter the adult tea. A plate of PB&J would be very disappointing next to those towers of goodies.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by!! What a wonderful Tea!! There used to be a lovely Tea Room in my area but it closed before the Pandemic. but I just found out that a local bank has been turned into a Tea Room and another small tea shop and tea room also recently opened in my area...I hope to be able to go to each of them with members of my Senior Social group...I hope you are having a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Deb
