Memory Monday: Graduation

Sorting through old photos and I found these from 1974.

My graduation photo. We had a choice of b/w or the new thing - color. I chose black and white because my best friend chose black and white to match her two older sisters.

The photographer recommended we wear white sweaters for contrast and for our 8x10 "oil" tinted photo our parents framed, he would tint the sweater the color of your choice. My friend and her sisters all wore the same sweater and had it tinted different colors. I am pretty sure mine is white in the 8 x 10.

Meanwhile I had two younger brothers and their portraits on the wall were normal color photos.

  5. Oh how fun. I don't recall anyone taking photos when I graduated. In fact I got to go home and mow the yard afterward.
    Love these!

  7. They didn't have a color option or tinting when I graduated. My son was born in 1974. He entered and you entered the beginning of adulthood. BTW, very cute!

  8. We never had the choice either. But I think the b/w looks great and will likely hold up forever!

  9. I graduated in 1974 too! I also chose b/w for my yearbook picture.

  11. I had my sweater tinted yellow, why, I don’t know…not a good color for me. We shared the same hairstyle though. Love the black and white…great smile. Take good care, best, Virginia

  12. What a Hot Mama you were in your Senior Year my Friend! My Brother, the Professional Hollywood Photographer, always Loved shooting in Black & White, he said it is usually more Flattering in Portraits and I agree. My Yearbook was in B&W so my Pix was B&W in it but Color in the Package my Parents bought. I preferred my Cap & Gown Pix even tho' my Senior Portraits did turn out good. I liked a different Pose than the one my Parents liked tho' and they were paying... so... *LOL* Our School Colors at the School I Graduated from were a nice shade of Brown and then Orange accents, so the Brown suited my complexion really well, so did the Orange... I'm swarthy so the Earthtones look best on me. So funny that Color was so "New" when we were that Age, huh? *Bwahahahaha*

Choosing black and white really does give the photo a timeless feel.
And that smile with those beautiful eyes-- just perfect.

  14. Cute pic! And good memory... I don't remember much about graduation back then. But then I graduated high school in '64 and college in Jan. '68.

  16. Yes, those OLD pics from the 70's when in my head I still want to think of 78 (yr I graduated) as not being that old. Okay, I have an old body but the mind still looks at most things though the eyes of a teen
