You have a great family history of heroes and their service is so appreciated. I'm impressed that you have this many photos and all these records.
ReplyDeleteWow! Loved the images, but you can really trace your roots back here! Very nice Miss Merry.
ReplyDeletePS. What a super picture of your dad!
ReplyDeleteThat is a very neat retrospective.
ReplyDeleteLots of heroes in your family for sure. Dennis, my Dad, brother, brother-in-law and lots of cousins also served in the military in various branches. Our freedom has been paid for at a great price.
ReplyDeleteThat you to all veterans AND their families.
Blessings,
Betsy
Lovely post and beautiful photos...lest we forget.
ReplyDeleteOh, I've loved your rich family history of service to our country!! We have more recently had seven immediate Soldiers, Sailors and Marines in service, with but one still far from home and serving, for a family total of 124 years. How I'd long for the pictures and the provenances of all our own far-back ancestors, as you have. The most memorable memento from one of ours is from my Great-Grand, in a letter to the local newspaper in the Nineteen-teens: "I had seven holes shot in my clothing, but not one broke the skin." What a profound, small sentence for so much danger and fear, and what unbelievable courage to face it.
ReplyDeleteThat sentence gives me chills! What a courageous young man. My 2 great grandfather's obituary talks at length about the wounds and scars on his face, 43 years after the war.
DeleteWhat a wonderful tribute. You certainly had a lot of family serve. How nice you have some of those pictures. And I can by your level of detail you've done a good deal of research to have the companies etc for their service. Well done!! Am out visiting everyone on my blog list to catch up, as it's been far too long since I've blogged. It feels good to get back into it.

What a great job you’ve done on your family history …great photos and research! Your family has a rich history of serving and it’s wonderful that you’ve preserved it for the future! Most of my family has similar experiences and service for many, many years…we’ve traced family back to the Civil War. My husband served as a Marine in Vietnam, honorably, and I hate to tell you what he came home to when he returned. But now. It’s a wonderful day to celebrate those who have served…thank you for your family’s service …thank you to all who have served and thank you for this post. xo, Virginia
ReplyDeleteThank you for your family's service...I an playing catch up...Thanks so much for all your visits and for your kind words...
