February. On days we don't have a snow day or days when we don't have a two hour fog delay, we eat breakfast and wait for the school bus.
Then we drive to the recreation center and change our shoes to walk the track which goes around the upper part of the basketball courts. On a warm morning we tried to become street walkers, but between raised sidewalks from tree roots and piles of dog poo, we decided we are indoor walkers.
Between the old man's bursitis and the old lady's issues, we walk very slowly. Very very slowly.
One Friday I did not have any medical appointments so we went to the egg farm. It was Amish baked goods day.
Since it was a Friday and it is lent and since we were out of town where there are restaurants, I talked him into lunch at Red Lobster.
I have spent the weekend rounding up my vintage hats. I am short one large hat box with at least three hats I can name. I am taking my youngest daughter and youngest granddaughter to the new restaurant with Sunday Tea that I had hoped to attend in January. I am sure I will not be sticking to my diet there either.
Last Monday I visited the pulmonary specialist who sent me for a pulmonary function test on Wednesday. I thought I aced the test since I am breathing better than I have in a long time. Apparently I am "trapping air" in my lungs, whatever that means. This Monday I am back at the cardiologist and maybe he will know. Then Tuesday I have my left eye cataract surgery.
The track is closed Sunday for a big volleyball tournament. I am will be walking on Monday morning before my appointment and Tuesday morning before my eye surgery. Wednesday morning I have to go back to the eye doctor so he can check whatever.
So that is what I have been up to. Eating, walking and going to doctor appointments.

Glad you had some fun outings and good food along with the appts and walking! Nice hat collection!
ReplyDeleteI can't decide what I like better, the Amish baked goods table or the Red Lobster. Okay, the Amish win :^) Miss Merry, as much as I enjoyed this I can't help but feel some concern too. You have some big medical things coming up. I hope you have a wonderful time tomorrow, and please keep your readers up to date on how things go this week.
ReplyDeleteGood that you have a nice inside place to walk. Best of luck with the cataract surgery. Take care…your Red Lobster lunch looks the best!
ReplyDeleteSounds like lots of fun adventures! Amish baked goods are so good! I always say Sunday calories don't count 🤣
ReplyDeleteTrapping air sounds like you aren't getting a really good exhale out in between breaths. I'm surprised he didn't show you how to easily do the pursed lip exercise. I used to have to remind Rich how to do that all of the time along with the nurses and the pulmonary PT folks. Look up: How to Perform Pursed Lip Breathing ~~~~ that should help you! I do it too.
ReplyDeleteThat track looks nice and here is wishing you an easy day with the cataract surgery. It was a wonderful thing for me!
Sounds like you have a lot going on (as always) and a lot to deal with. I just got back from the ophthalmologist; eye pressure was high last week so an extra prescription of glaucoma drops have been added, but they make my eyes burn. Hopefully I'll get used to them. At least my eye pressure was much better this morning. You take care of yourself. (P.S. I was using my iphone to take photos yesterday and was just inches from the wasp and bee -- the wasp was too intent on his/her task to be worried about me :)
ReplyDeleteWow on beautiful (delicious) food. And the hats surprised me. I hope your tea party is fun. When I had cataracts out a couple of years ago I was surprised at the amount of post op care I needed to do for myself…lots of drops in my eye. We did one eye and then a month later, the other eye. I did kind of enjoy the trippy anesthesia on the first one, but shouldn’t have said anything, because I was completely out of it on second.
ReplyDeleteAnd here I thought you were gazing down the Jetway of a flight to WARM, SUNNY climes! I must say that that long enclosure, with the promise of better health and easier breathing, is quite more the Golden Ticket than a few days on a sunny beach can award.
ReplyDeleteI must admit, the Kobalt aisle gave me a frisson of deja vu, for all our kids bee-lined for the Husqvarna and the other noisy, grindy stuff, while my Chris was holding court immediately as expert in the ammo aisle. And your little cheese biscuit---all you seafood enthusiasts at my table can eat squid ink and urchins til the cows come home, while I happily munch my little basket of cheese biscuits and a bowl of their good slaw.
I leave you with "Happy Trails to You," though they be a rubber lane with pretty monotonous landscape---your imagination can take you ANYWHERE, on that path to strength and new spring in your step. Stay warm and well, Faraway Friend!!
We went to the fish fry Friday night at the neighborhood Catholic Church. Gosh, it was good. Your Red Lobster looks good too. I haven't had Red Lobster since we left Spokane. There is one here, but there are so many restaurants to choose from that we've never made it there.
ReplyDeleteGood for you in walking so much. I really need to be better about that. I get so short of breath when I walk. My cardiologist would have a cow if he knew how lazy I've been between being sick and my back being so bad.
Let us know what you find out from the cardiologist. I'll be praying for you.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
Dear Miss Merry, your photos are lovely. The baked goods look tasty and your meal at Red Lobster 🦞 looks delicious 😋 I wish you all the best with your doctor's appointments and your cataract surgery.
ReplyDeleteI spent a lot of the winter walking around in circles in my house and counting steps. I think your method is better. I admire your self control with the Amish. I've not been to Red Lobster in ages and I always liked it. (Rick isn't a fan so that may be why it's not on our go-out list.) I should go by myself! I hope the cardiologist and all can give you some answers. Those pulmonary function tests are deceiving, aren't they? You think you did great and then they tell you to think again. Hang in there -- you've got this.
ReplyDeleteSlow walking is still walking!
ReplyDeleteI love your collection of vintage hats. I'm always jealous of people who can wear hats. They always seem to look weird on me.
You can never go wrong with Red Lobster! It's worth going for the cheddar bay biscuits alone.
I do not understand pulmonary function tests. I had one back in November. I spent most of it feeling light-headed and was pretty sure I was going to pass out at one point. But, apparently, I aced it. Then you think you aced it but didn't. Weird.
