The fourth and final day of our European Vacation started in Germany. This was voted favorite breakfast of the week.
Thumbs up for breakfast.
This year's camp photo during the five minutes they wore the camp shirts.
Lounging in the air conditioning. It was already hot. An hour round trip in the car to visit their fourth great grandparents who immigrated from Germany in 1870. We had a family history lesson on the way. Their German names were Heinrich Peter and Johanette Kathrina Christina but they went by Peter and Mary in America.
I want to thank you for all the kind words and compliments on this year's Mimi Camp. I started doing this with my oldest grandchildren who are in high school now and never dreamed (a) I would have ten grandchildren and (b) that I would still be at this!
I am feeling my age - no more overnights and I am exhausted after four days! But the kids all enjoy it so much and are already giving me theme ideas for next year!

You are making such great memories with them! I'm blown away by all you did! But, I can imagine you are tired!
ReplyDeleteMiss Merry, I very much enjoyed this. Your grandkids must think they have the best grandparents on the planet. Thank you for taking the time to share all of these wonderful photos with your readers! PS I love your porch and big cozy living room ❤️
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely making some wonderful memories with your grandchildren.I am sure you are tired...The whole week was just amazing!! Great to share family history with your grandchildren too!! Again, Thanks so much for sharing!

Yay you! And such a great group of grands! So glad you went to visit the ancestors too. Good connection for the next generation. Now you deserve a good rest!!
ReplyDeleteI think you deserve an award for best Mimi. Looks like a whole lot of fun. And definitely a lot of work. Your grand-kiddos are very lucky.
ReplyDeleteWay to go Grandma! You are making memories!
ReplyDeleteYou are the best!
ReplyDeleteThese memories are priceless. You are the best Grandma. I have to admit that compared to those yummy looking pretzels, the cookies don't look nearly as tasty, except maybe the chocolate ones! What a fun week you've had. Now take a nice, long nap!
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Betsy
Unbelievable. Your activities are so clever and I love the participation of all ages and the camaraderie. (I smiled at the photo of the seven together. It reminded me of the von Trapp children in Sound of Music in their sailor suits -- except you have mostly boys!). The food looks wonderful and so clever. This had to take forever to plan. And I think you still need to write a book.
ReplyDeleteI am with you on those German biscuits - we bought a box thinking they looked yummy but far prefer the uglier pfefferneuse!
ReplyDeleteHi Miss Merry, the children are delightful! I love all your photos! I am so sorry you are experiencing this intense heat! It has been the same here in Montreal, and the wildfires as well have affected the air quality.
ReplyDeleteThe food looks really good! I have never tried German potato chips. You are an amazing person and wonderful grandmother!
Thank you so much for sharing, and I hope the heat calms somewhat so that you can get a cooling break.
Experiencing Germany, Italy, Paris, London, wow! This tour of Europe took a lot of planning and forethought. Very educational but fun, too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute idea! I love the theme! I would love to put on a cousin camp for my grandkids one day! They are still really young so maybe once they get a bit older. You are the best grandma! I am going to have to remember this idea! Looks like you have been having a fun summer. Our big summer project this year has been some kitchen cabinet painting. We are looking forward to cooler temperatures this fall. Thanks so much for sharing your amazing ideas!
ReplyDeleteLooks like so much fun and a big time for all, as well as educational. I never heard of Pretzels in a Bag, what a novel way to make them!
