Election Night

I went to my polling place on Monday night to help set up for the election. We had to move some tables to storage. I put the legs up on a round table and was wheeling it to the closet. It got away from me and, instead of letting it fall, I lunged forward and face-planted flat on the floor of the hall.  My glasses flew off (but did not break) and I even lost a shoe.

So that was fun. I believe I landed on my nose and you cannot imagine the buckets of blood. Since I am the youngest of the crew, people were slightly panicked. Once I convinced them to get me some paper towels, I was able to run to the restroom and got the bleeding stopped.  I then drove myself home.

My oldest daughter, the nurse, is convinced it is broken (she lives 2 hours away and is going by photos). My youngest wanted me to call the doctor.  I did call today and they can't get me in for two weeks, lol.

Today I worked the polls from 5:30 am (setup) until 8:15 pm when we were finished with end of day with two black eyes and a very swollen and slightly off center nose. Not one voter mentioned it.

Our turnout was much lower than expected but did include the usual suspects who taunted us with political t-shirts and hats (when they don't get a reaction, they ask - did you read my hat?).  We were told not to confront anyone who breaks the political rules.  More fun times.

I am too tired to eat, too upset to watch results and I am going to bed.  I guess tomorrow I learn whether I am locking myself in my house for the next four years.

  1. Good grief--Miss Merry, please keep us updated on your poor nose, I am so sorry. As for locking yourself indoors for 4 years... I feel your pain there for sure. I'm not going to bed until this is over.

  2. Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry you got hurt. You should go to an urgent care if you can't get into your doctor. Your nose may need to be set and you certainly don't want to endure another break to set it later. I'll bet that even though not one person said anything to your face, they had lots of comments later. At least you gave people in line some entertainment. I'm NOT laughing at you my dear friend. I'm trying to find something to console yourself with you poor thing. Here you were, doing something good and then that happens.
No matter the outcome today, at least we have awhile without these darn commercials. I'm SO sick of them and so is everyone else I know. :-) GO GET THAT NOSE CHECKED OUT TOMORROW. PLEASE?
    Blessings and love,
    Betsy

    1. Wise choice, I foresee an Exodus FROM America to other Countries for perhaps the first time in History should he do everything he has Promised to unravel our Democracy completely and install himself as Dictator.

  5. OMG so sorry to hear of your injury. Our Internal Pain will match it now unfortunately, I'm Angry and despondent. America is fucked and we fell from within... never thought I'd see that in my Lifetime. Those who decided this outcome have no idea what they've done, but when he unrolls all of the Fuckery he intends and has promised, they'll see that handing a Nation to a Madman who is an American Hitler, was a grave mistake... they Sold Out Freedom for the Hope of cheaper Eggs and Gas... Wow, just Wow.

  6. I'm so sorry! I hope you can get in to see another Dr. quickly. People never cease to amaze me with the way they act. There's no excuse for taunting and ugliness-I wish people would do what is right.

  7. Oh no so sorry that you fell and hurt your face, two weeks is a long time to wait for care after an injury. The red wave really took over....the economy and immigration seemed to be on peoples minds.
