It was so hot. I just want to mention that.
My dad was a resident of this Veteran's Home for the last two years of his life and I was there almost every day. I cannot say enough about the wonderful care he received, as did every resident I met.
He was also very excited when the cart showed up with donated items like shaving cream, razors, soap, tooth brushes, toothpaste, kleenex and other personal care items. The residents must purchase these items for themselves and many do not have adequate funds to do this. My dad, who we made sure had everything he needed, just liked free stuff.
Two Christmases ago we did the Amazon Boxes (where you buy a huge Amazon box from a shipper and never know what you will get). One box was about fifty mens patterned t-shirts in various sizes. They went straight to the Veteran's Home where they were much appreciated.
I will be back this week with a recap of our Amish trip.
Kudos for your participation in the rally. Wonderful photos of this event. How nice to give the shirts 👕 to the Veteran's Home.
ReplyDeleteBravo to you and your comrades. Protesting and resisting needs to happen every day and in all ways, no matter how big or small the effort may be. It all matters.
ReplyDeleteThese protest signs are just awesome, but it's unbelievable what's going on here. You inspire me to want to get out there. Nice work Miss Merry. 🙂👍
ReplyDeleteThis is scary news as my husband depend now on his team of VA social workers, and care team. Thankfully the Hospice care is not part of the VA and may be safe for right now for a while.
ReplyDeleteI am so disheartened by this news.
Cut healthcare for veterans and there will be no US Armed Forces any longer unless they are drafted which will cause huge problems also.
Thank you for doing this, I take it to heart.
So sad we can't do better as a country for our vets!
ReplyDeleteWe as a country need to be ashamed. You are a mensch. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThe last Christmas we were in Spokane I crocheted 109 little stockings, (the number of veterans living at the home), and filled them with candy canes and a little led flashlight we bought in bulk. I was amazed at how excited the people were to get those stockings. The flashlights were a suggestion by the staff so they could find their way to the restroom at night without turning on a light and waking up a roommate. Lots of Veterans in our family so we try to support them whenever we can.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Yay for the turnout of your Protest for a Good Cause. The Man is a 100% Disabled Veteran and a lot of their Earned Benefits have been cut or eroded over the Years so this could be the Death Knell for remaining Benefits they still receive, or massive cuts that make it more difficult to receive them due to demand being higher than supply of Services and Workers who are left. This Regime is just using our Military and Veterans as a Political Prop, they've shown they don't respect us and the Service to Country.
ReplyDeleteI would have done that except I was on the road yesterday. Well done -- and it was hot, too. I'm really impressed with your donations to the Veterans home. I didn't know they had to do that. It's a wonderful cause.
ReplyDeleteYou are wonderful.
