HAPPY JUNE

Just checking in to say we are still here.  We think our grandkids shared two viruses, a tummy virus and a high fever virus and we suffered through both at the same time. Although they were down only 1-2 days, it really took a week for us to get back to what we call normal.  And we are still tired.

My scarewoman Pearlie Mae looks at the last of my iris.

We had a quiet Memorial Day weekend with me in bed for two days before grampa went down. No picnics for us.  We were still putting one on the school bus this week, but everyone made other arrangements instead of dinners at the home place.

No trips to the amusement park. No food pics or recipes.

On Thursday I found substitutes for my charity day and we were able to attend our next to the last Kindergarten Graduation.  This was quite the event with the ceremony held on the football field while families cheered from the grandstands.
I am hoping this is a camera angle and that my legs have not shrunk to half the size of my arms.

I have been complaining and complaining about the heartbreaking state of affairs in this country. I saw this wonderful pin by Mary Engelbreit and took it to heart.

I submitted my resume for consideration to be appointed to a vacated seat in our city government. The committee chose two candidates to interview and will make a decision this week.  I realize it is a small step and a position without much impact in the future of our country.  But they say charity starts at home and I think we need an emphasis on charity (as well as compassion) in this country right now.  I will keep you posted.

Meanwhile, back in the saddle tomorrow as my middle son, my youngest daughter and I are taking seven children between the ages of 5 and 12 to the amusement park! Fun times!

  1. I am glad to hear that you are on the mend, dear friend. Mary Englebreit's quote is so true. We can complain, but it changes nothing. But if we do something we change our outlook and contribute to something that can make changes and lead to a positive outcome.
Thank you for posting your news, Miss Merry, I have been thinking of you and praying foe you.

  2. I am pleased to hear you have fully recovered from the virus. Always takes a while to get over these things. Good luck with your application to the city government.

  3. The sweet moment at the Kindergarten Graduation and the hopeful step of applying for a local government position show strength and community spirit. Despite setbacks, the writer embraces the new month with humor and hope and is gearing up for a fun, chaotic day at the amusement park with the grandkids.

A touching, genuine glimpse into everyday life.

  5. Ah yes, children and viruses. The gift that keeps on giving. Glad to hear you are doing much better. I'm excited to hear about your election campaign. I've been calling (must call again today on rescinding PBS funding -- that will come up for a vote in the house this week, or maybe it's the Senate. I'll call them all.) And becoming more politically active. I hope they will pick you! Thinking lovely thoughts and keep us posted! (And thanks for your visits, too!)

  7. Miss Merry, very glad to hear you guys are all on the mend--but it didn't seem to slow you down a lot! Love the bicycle photo with the flowers, and I think your city govt seat sounds great. Nice seeing Mister Merry up there too. :^)

  10. I'm glad that you are all on the mend. Spring/summer bugs are the worst. I had to laugh out loud at the comment on your picture. I detest photos of me. I am now inhabiting my grandmothers body and I'm not sure when that happened.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

Thank you so much for stopping by to visit! I love your comments and suggestions and read them all. Due to spam, I will now have to approve all comments. Sometimes it takes me a hot minute to authorize comments due to grandchildren commitments. I apologize but I can't let those scammers get the upper hand!
