I know my last post involved too many topics and I wrote it all in the most confusing way possible. I will warn you - I talk like that in real life too!
So the house stories:
House #1
Sat - Alert for house for sale at 12 noonAppointment made to tour 45 minutes later (12:45 pm)
Full Price Bid made (as well as 2 other buyers)
Seller shut down showings at 3 pm with option for the 3 to bid higher.
Saturday evening: higher bid submitted with bank pre-approval letters.
Sunday morning: house sold to my son
And today the building inspector from the bank inspected.
This house is actually very near my house. You have to leave my street, turn right at the top of the street, turn right at the second street and drive to the back of a housing development to get there. But if you go out the back door, through the neighbors yard, and cut across the golf course, you are at my next door neighbor's yard. They do have two boys. . . .
House #2
This house is across the street from me and went up for sale 2 days ago.Yesterday was non -stop buyer tours, I would guess 12-16 families. My attention span was reached, but I do know more families toured today. My guess is they are holding bids until a certain day and opening them then.
House #3
This is my house - the house where we found this rail on the right was rotting when we trimmed the bushes.
My husband did some figuring and, after we went to the egg lady, we went in the other direction to the home improvement store where we purchased supplies for double what they would have been before tariff prices increases.
He replaced it with white vinyl posts and rails to match our front porch, getting up at 7am to finish it before the oppressive heat.
I was thinking I would have liked a railing but then I remembered I have never walked up these steps in the first 22 years it has been here. The vinyl is guaranteed for twenty years. At that point we will be 89 years old and won't be using the stairs then either.
Tonight we are listening to our phones ping with weather warnings including tornadoes. Lots of interesting videos on Facebook (because if you have a tornado warning, you must grab your camera phone), but the only damages seem to be a few downed trees and wires.
Big congrats to your son, that's a lovely home! And the repairs Mr. Merry made on your own home look very nice--he doesn't fool around, does he? You do cover a lot of stuff here but that's your life! I liked the egg lady story & pics too, by the way :^)
ReplyDeleteSuch a very nice house. I'm sure son will be very happy there...and close to you too! I love how this new railing blends in so well with the rest of your house.
ReplyDeleteHouse sales are crazy aren't they? My son has been looking for a different place is having a hard time.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your son.
Nice house for your son and so great that it's close!
ReplyDeleteYou new vinyl looks great! If you ever need it you could add a handrail for the steps that attaches to the house. Putting posts in to add a handrail to the existing railing would be a lot more work.
ReplyDeleteI hope the weather bypassed you. The new railing looks very good -- nice he could do it (and not so nice that it cost a lot more than before!) Three cheers on the house sale!
ReplyDeleteThe weather has been WILD this summer. We had a couple tornado touch downs close by as well. How great that your son will be living around the corner from you! That's something to celebrate, for sure!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's funny! I must talk the same way because I understood your previous post perfectly. Ha! We had those storms a couple of days ago but now it's just hot, hot, hot. 102F is predicted for Friday and Saturday. Yuck. We're heading to the Black Hills with Piper on Sunday after church where it should be cooler, but storms are predicted there. *sigh* We had so many outdoor activities planned for the trip. We'll see.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Betsy
