My car did it again. I left my church meeting, ran to Walgreens to pick up a photo order and the darn car slid into a parking space in front of the cancer thrift shop.
Not sure who this good-looking crew is.
I want to be the type of person who needs this in her life. And - this happens too frequently - I missed the dish on the right. I think it matches some other dishes I have from my gramma. Oh no. . . . .
The Avon cars were still there, but there seems to be more of them.
So many sets of dishes. I found several that match my wedding china a few years ago. I keep checking for more. (I don't need more).
I don't know her. But I want to know her!
I have eight grandsons. And I think they all need this artwork.
These are the glasses I went back to get. I had a talk with myself. Someday I will show you the glassware I already own. I do not need these glasses.
The dish and platter were $5 each. And somehow I did not purchase them. . . yet.
And an itty bitty school desk and chair that I don't need. But it was soooo cute.
What items were not photographed you say? The ones I actually purchased. I did not realize that until I uploaded my photos. So I guess that will be another post.
Meanwhile, my church board meeting. We have a client who is 78 years old and has lived in an apartment in a senior complex for several years. Her social security has not kept up with her bills and she applied for a metro program that helps seniors with rent. And DOGE has gutted the program. We were able to pay one months rent for her which will help for a few months. But she is the person we want to have government services. She just needs a little reduction in rent to make it. She can't go back to work or even work a small job. She served her time and paid her taxes. It is so frustrating.
I have purchased my first salad spinner for our bumper crop of lettuce. It is pretty darn slick! Tonight we had taco salad.
And those are our tomatoes, too!
Some asked when we planted our garden. Well, I purchased 24" patio tomato plants in late April because I am a gardening cheater. At the same time I purchased the rest of the vegetables as bedding plants. I drive home and my husband removes the plants from the back of my vehicle and my job is finished until vegetables are ready to pick. He is my gardener.
Aren't thrift/charity shops wonderful? Your salad looks delicious! I will keep the 78 year old lady in my prayers. She should not have to work. Bless her heart.
ReplyDeleteYou need a lot of self control when visiting charity shops. That salad looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteCan we just end this Gov't nightmare soon?
ReplyDeleteThat taco salad looks delicious. I love the plate it is on too!
I love the photos at the top, but I must admit I'm not a big thrift shop fan. However, my mom would've loved you Miss Merry. Your salad looked delicious, I miss the vegetable garden we grew up with. And I very much hope that 78-year-old woman isn't forced to return to work. 😞
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun place - my car might turn in too. There's always good stuff there, and you can tell yourself you are helping when you buy things. :)
ReplyDeleteThe salad looks delicious!
Sending love to the lady you are trying to help. I love the salad.
ReplyDeleteI would need the outfits, too, if that cocktail setup came home with me -- slinky dresses, cig holder, all that.
ReplyDeleteThat Elderly Senior Lady's plight is going to become more common unfortunately. We still haven't received our Social Security Checks, late again, ever since this Administration we haven't gotten them on time and incur late charges on Bills that they pay/cover, expenses we don't need and I've always had exemplary Credit and FICO Score so to have that compromised too with late payments due to not receiving OUR Money when we should is making me so angry. As for Chazzas, my Restraint isn't usually as good as what you exhibited, Bravo, the things you didn't Buy are a Testimony to your Restraint my Friend. At least that's what I'm saying whilst NOT seeing your Haul of what you didn't resist? *Winks* I have so many conversations with myself trying to talk myself out of things I do not Need... sometimes I even succeed.
ReplyDeleteI would never do tomato growing any other way. You get that good start. That salad looks great. Apart from herbs, lettuce is my only "crop" and it's nearly seeded out. If I ever get toward your area on my way to Cleveland, will you point me to that antique shop. I need nothing. I loved every single thing you shared and can't wait to see your purchases.
ReplyDeleteAs for your church land -- this breaks my heart. She, and many like her, have worked hard all their lives. They need the services that are being denied. I'm so sorry for her.
