My pouting took exactly 24 hours. Before I went to bed I responded to the email thanking them for their time in consideration of me for the position, said that I did read in the paper that they chose another candidate and wished them the best. I declined working with the committee further (they have a lot of 2-3 hour meetings and I don't want to waste time with rude people - I did not state that) and said I would be working with my Indivisible group instead. Then I went to bed.

The deer missed my lettuce patch, it is now safe inside the stockade. |
I am hoping to make what used to be a monthly trip to Trader Joe's with my glass class girls this coming Tuesday. One of the girls has a hereditary marker for blood clots and has been on blood thinners for most of her life. She has been on a specific prescription for years which has worked wonderfully. And this month the cost for her copay went from $32 to $374. She can't afford this so is working with her doctor to substitute a different blood thinner. The first one has resulted in her cell count of 7 last week, one point away from a transfusion. So they adjusted the dosage and our trip will depend on her test on Monday.
In other medical news, we have a nice smaller hospital in our town. There is a bigger hospital in the city down the road where they send the next level medical and trauma cases. The bigger hospital is no longer accepting our supplemental policy as of last Friday. They are in some argument with the insurance company. The hospital wants those with this company to call and make them accept the hospital's terms. So at this point we are concentrating on not having a stroke or heart attack or breaking a hip or getting cancer so that we don't have to deal with it. Someone said we can't even switch our supplemental to another company until November. And - we like this company. They paid over 95% of my medical expenses when I broke my arm.

Sirloin Steak Dinner Salad Tonight! |
And I am very excited because I froze the rest of the ten pound ham for future sandwiches and we are not having ham for dinner tonight.
I think after your day of pouting..
ReplyDeleteThe fact that you didn't dwell on it and how you dealt with it is very commendable. I hope you gave that deer a good talking to if you had the chance. Your dinner looks very good.
What a week you've had. I think it was just as well you didn't get that job. Working alongside people with such bad manners would lead to many pouting moments which might lead to stress which might lead to illness which might lead to unaffordable medical bills.
ReplyDeleteOuch on the supplemental insurance. Perhaps the bigger hospital doesn't like the pay schedule.
ReplyDeleteCoverage for all should be the mantra. I know others don't believe it at all, but that is where I stand.
We need to take care of our people.
Dang on the deer. Can you plant Deer Offensive plants around the outside of your little garden?
Have your hubby string a wire or something about 3 feet above the fence as it could stop the deer from jumping into your garden.
This is a lesson learned from gardeners in the forest.
Have a good weekend and I am loving your posts.
I see you rose above it! Good for you.
ReplyDeleteOnward and foreword! Darn deer anyways sometimes they just like to feel stuff with their mouths, one year the pulled up a whole bed of Moss Roses and left them lay. At least they didn't pull the whole tomato plant out! Hospitals and Clinic seem to be picking and choosing which Insurance they will take...it hardly seems fair.
ReplyDeleteYour lettuce looks wonderful! I like to grow lettuce for our salads, but didn't get any in early... and it got to 90 so quick that we gave up.
ReplyDeleteThat increase in the meds is ridiculous... it makes me so angry.
And your steak salad looks delicious! I have never put steak in a salad before... actually we eat very little steak, but it looks great.
LOL. I love your last line. I've dealt with that. Miss Merry, you are truly a class act. You dealt with your disappointment very graciously.
ReplyDelete'Gracious' is a goal for me. Sometimes I actually reach it.
Our Medicare supplement is through AARP United Health Care and I am very pleased with it..Joe had numerous tests, 2 trips to the ER with subsequent hospitalizations, 2 paracentesis procedures along with numerous scans, etc., 2 ambulance rides and a 28 hour admission to Hospice and EVERYTHING was either covered by Medicare or our United Healthcare Supplement....I did not have to pay a penny out of my pocket for his medical issues...Thank Goodness!

That's the thing about ham! When there are only two of you, you tend to take a long time to get through the ham and it's nice for a break. (That looks fabulous!) I hope your deer don't hop the fence. It's amazing to see -- and very annoying to know they can do it. I was ticked the other day because I looked out the window and saw a squirrel eating on of my (very few) strawberries that have just come in. Sigh. Now I'm trying to beat Bushy every morning. Size of crop to date: 10.
ReplyDeletePS: Your tomatoes! Wow. When did you put yours out?
ReplyDeleteThat lettuce looks delicous but shame on that deer messing with your tomatoes. I'm sorry about the medical stuff. It's so hard to figure out sometimes and then they change things on you.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Deer can be such a nuisance in the garden. I hope your temporary fence works out. Enjoy your museum trip and dinner, and fingers crossed for your friend's medical tests. That news about the hospital and insurance is certainly frustrating. Your sirloin steak salad sounds delicious.
ReplyDeleteSorry to read that you had such a difficult time recently but I’m sure it will get better soon. Thank God we don’t have a problem with deer here.
ReplyDeleteDeer hit my car and totaled it two years ago. Been a deer problem here for a while. Looks like most of that herd has been taken out by cars hitting them. We have plenty of forest but if they come in my yard, they are taking chances. Deer ticks and destruction, done with it.
