I was deprived as a child. My church did not have a Vacation Bible School. My children did not attend Vacation Bible School. I saw advertisements. But we didn't have facebook back then and I did not understand how it works in my community
In my community every church with a VBS invites the entire community, not just church members. And the programs are offered for free. This week my grandkids were part of the 275 children who attended the Presbyterian VBS. And tonight was the closing program.
One section was an orchard of fruit trees and bushes but the hallway was too narrow to take many photos.
He was very good at this game.
The ladies serve chips, hotdogs and punch to the families. Mimi and grampa did not partake, but look at the sunflowers!A closeup of the beehive centerpieces on every table!
That's just a brief look at the wonderful, wild world of VBS! They are signed up for one more church VBS in July but there are enough churches in our community that they could attend every week all summer long.
The decorations are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMy gosh, your photos are awesome Miss Merry! Well, I went to Vacation Bible School from kindergarten thru 6th grade and to be honest one week each summer was plenty for me. :^) Still, this looked so nice compared to our humble Methodist church. Thanks for sharing with us.
ReplyDeleteI loved VBS as a kid, but the decorations now are so amazing! Our church has VBS this week - it's supposed to be brutally hot! Everyone is invited and it's free here too. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do for decor.
ReplyDeleteThe amount of effort that goes into creating these settings is amazing. I'm no stranger to VBS, but I've never seen anything quite like what your church put out. Give everyone a round of applause. I know that back in the day, there was much grumbling about parents who used VBS as a daycare for older children. I never quite got that myself. When you advertise "Everybody welcome!", it always seemed to me that (just like church), you assume that everyone who shows up is there because they are meant to be there. It was an opportunity to provide a safe place for kids to be entertained.
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing! A lot of effort was put into this.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful! I did go to vbs growing up as did my daughters, then I used to volunteer to watch babies so others could teach.
ReplyDeleteVBS was pretty tame when I was growing up, but now the decorations and program were amazing! Our children's minister writes a new musical every year. This year was the story of Daniel. The kids love it!
ReplyDeleteWe always had VBS when I was a kid and also when our children were small. I'm not as tuned in with it now that I have no kids of that age anymore. But those ecorations are fantabulous!!!! The imagination of some people. If I HAD to pick a favorite it would be the beehives, but it's all great. Thanks for sharig.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Betsy
This is incredibly creative! It looks like fun and I'm sure the kids had a great time participating. I really love the beehive -- great idea!
